Upright meaning
The cloaked figure stares at three spilled cups with such commitment that the two upright cups behind him have started to feel unappreciated. The Five of Cups is loss accounting done emotionally: the drawdown mourned daily, the exited position checked compulsively, the red in the portfolio studied while the green sits ignored. The spill is real — this card never pretends otherwise. But its geometry is the message: grief faces backward by choice. Two cups remain. There is also, canonically, a bridge.
