A short history of financial astrology
Financial astrology is the practice of timing trades by planetary movement, and it is older than most exchanges it is practiced on. Traders have charted the moon against wheat prices, blamed Mercury retrograde for roughly four market events a year, and consulted stock market psychics whose fees were, at least, disclosed up front. The tradition is sincere, extensive, and almost entirely unaudited.
The case for cards
The zodiac offers twelve signs. A tarot deck offers 78 cards — over six times the granularity per omen, with no waiting on planetary transit. An ephemeris cannot be asked a direct question; a deck can, including a question with a ticker symbol in it. The deck also has never once been subpoenaed by the SEC.
