Upright meaning
The figure clutches one coin to his chest, balances one on his head, and stands on the other two — a portfolio allocation technically called "none shall pass." The Four of Pentacles is capital refusing to work: the cash pile awaiting a bottom that was three bottoms ago, the company hoarding a balance sheet it cannot explain, safety compounding into its own quiet loss. Holding is a strategy; clutching is a posture. The card distinguishes them by one test — can the hand open? Wealth that cannot circulate is a statue of wealth.
Market notes
Pairs with excessive cash positions, companies sitting on undeployed capital, buyback programs announced and unexecuted, and defensiveness beyond its mandate. Read against a flat 30-day trend while opportunities pass. Ask, dryly, what the coin on the head is for.
