Upright meaning
One figure on the high ground holds off six wands from below, and the high ground is doing most of the work. The Seven of Wands is incumbency under assault: the market leader defending share, the margin defending itself against discounters, the thesis defending itself against the bear case that will not stop emailing. Defense is unglamorous — nobody parades for a moat maintained — but the card is clear-eyed about the arithmetic: the defender needs to win every day; the challengers only need to win once. Position matters. Keep the high ground.
