The Tower

Major Arcana · card 17 of 78 · collapse, revelation, black swan, the gap down

The Tower tarot card

Upright meaning

The Tower is struck by lightning and the people leaping from it did not plan to leave that way. This is the card of sudden structural failure: the fraud revealed, the guidance withdrawn, the gap-down open that makes the chart look like a printing error. The Tower was always going to fall — the lightning is just the invoice arriving. What burns here was flammable to begin with: the inflated multiple, the story that required not being examined. It is the deck's worst morning and, canonically, its most honest card. What survives the Tower was real.

Market notes

Pairs with crashes, fraud revelations, halted-then-gapped opens, withdrawn guidance, failed deals, and double-digit negative `changePercent` days. Read against a 30-day trend broken sharply from its prior range. Never soften this card and never invent a bottom for it; its one mercy is that it only strikes what was already unsound.

In the spread

In a past, present, future spread, this card takes the meaning of its seat: what has already happened, what is happening now, or which way the story leans. The position changes the tense. The card does not change its mind.
